Name Your Dog After a Favorite Movie or TV Character

Searching for inspiration to help with naming your dog? Why not choose the name of one of your favorite movie or television characters? It’s a great way to pay homage to something you like and it’s sure to be memorable. I know at least two dogs named Kramer and Rocky is one of the most popular dog names for all types of dog breeds. Both of these names have distinguishable traits because of the reference to the well known character that had the name Rocky immediately beings to mind a toughness or strength while Kramer sounds quirky. If your dog has these characteristics then you might choose one of those names. Surely anyone who hears them will immediately recognize the name.

Look for Cues

Naming your dog should be pretty easy. If you take your time and observe the cues he gives you about his personality you will come up with the perfect choice. If he’s playful, protective, curious, shy or mischievous, pick a movie or TV character that exudes those same character traits and people will instantly know a little bit about your dog.

Here are some examples of famous movie/TV characters that convey a certain quality, you could choose one of these names for a pet who you feel possess similar qualities:

• Alf –(Playful)
• Sonny Corelone – The Godfather (Protective)
• Gizmo – Gremlins (Curious/Smart)
• Scarface – (Tough)
• Tinkerbell – Disney (Shy)
• The Dude – The Big Lebowski (Mellow, Carefree)
• Atticus Finch - To Kill a Mockingbird (Noble)
• Yoda –Star Wars – (Wise)

Play on Words

You could always apply a sense of humor to the whole thing and use a play on words to create new interesting dog names, such as Doggie Bowser or Ally McBeagle. In reality the most important thing to remember when you name your dog is to have fun with it. If you like the movie or television character and if the name fits either the look or temperament of your dog then you should go for it!
